The Last Pogo DVD
Here is some info on the rare 1978 ‘The Last Pogo’ DVD available now:
Hi. I made a punk rock doc in 1978 called THE LASTPOGO, and just released it on DVD in Canada in October. THE LAST POGO is a half-hour film (shot in 16mm) that documents “the last punk rock concert” at Toronto’s legendary Horseshoe Tavern, when the bands were booked by similarly legendary promoters The Garys. The half-hour film has performances by The Scenics, Cardboard Brains, The Secrets, Mods, The Ugly, Viletones and Teenage Head. The show ends in a near-riot when a drunken detective shuts down Teenage Head after one song.
The DVD has a couple of special features: a 1978 studio performance by The Scenics and an on-screen commentary by Viletones Chris Haight. All of the music in the film has been remastered by Andy
Meyers of The Scenics using an old-school trick called “Duophonic.”
*Full page feature in Alternative Press, current full page ad in MRR magazine, + ads in Big Takeover, Ugly Things and more.
The movie has recieved terrific press since being released, including: “…it’s great.” – Maximum Rock N Roll; “Punker than you’ll ever be.” — Toronto Star; “Wow!”, The Big Takeover; “EveryPunk’s story”, Margaret Moser, Austin Chronicle; “Now THIS is a fuckin’ documentary!”, ex-wrestler John Harvey.
The DVD sells for $8 direct to Distro + shipping. We can ship you copies direct. Just email Colin Brunton: [email protected]
