Japanese Neon Hearts tribute CD
Out in Japan is a compilation CD of 10 Japanese bands performing Neon Hearts cover versions in some elaborate packaging.
Martin Ratcliffe from the band explained:
About 6 months ago Keith was approached by a guy called Miles Wood, who lives in Tokyo but comes from Wolverhampton, asking if we were OK with a bunch of Japanese bands recording a Neon Hearts tribute CD.
Apparently they regularly play Neon Hearts songs in their set and have been fans for years. To cut a long story short the CD came out in Japan in early November with Keith & I going over to play 3 gigs with 9 bands at the launch weekend. There are some interesting versions of 9 songs on the CD which is packaged in an 8″ cardboard sleeve for the first pressing.
It was amazing to see the singles & CD’s the Japanese fans have go hold of. There were a lot of bootleg 7″ & 8″ Regulations singles and loads of Circles stuff as well.
It’s good to see the band getting some long overdue recognition. If you’re not familiar with the band then do check out the singles, especially their debut ‘Regulations’ and their only LP ‘Popular Music’.
