Madchester – when fashion went baggy and tie-dyed, the indie kids got close to raving, E was the drug of choice and everything good seemed to emanate from The Hacienda club in Manchester.
The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, James, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans, etc. ruled the music. The scene's heyday was '89 to '92 and then came Britpop, but that's another story.
