It's had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra, but yet again Carlisle Record Fair has been resurrected and what's more it's back at the County Hotel on Botchergate. The dates are Saturday 10th July and Saturday 23rd October and is being organised by Stewybus.

Stewy  commented: "a couple of years ago, when I told people there were to be no more Carlisle fairs I was shocked to see grown men cry. It obviously meant a lot to the people of Carlisle so I'm delighted we're able to resurrect it and very grateful to the County Hotel for supporting the event."

Friday 9th July, All Saints Church, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, £4

This event is part of Plugged In Live, where five promoters each take over a different venue for one night of live music in Newcastle city centre.

Shipyard Sessions presents...

Emily Portman

Emily Portman

Inspired by folktales and ballads, Emily weaves harmony rich naratives relaying female experience. Visceral visions of a darker Albion conjure landscapes where mythical sirens collide in urban backstreets.

Martin Heslop

Martin Heslop

Steam trains and heartbeats and old accordion players and drinking all come together to make the sound of Martin and his band.

Cath and Phil Tyler

Cath and Phil Tyler

Anglo-American duo Cath and Phil Tyler make raw and powerfully emotive folk music that goes direct to the source, mining through their own contacts and treasure troves, re-interpreting or adding their own music, and surfacing with pure gold.

About Shipyard Sessions

Shipyard Sessions is a relatively new night in Newcastle upon Tyne organised by the people who run Shipyard Studios in Northumberland. We put on nights of good songwriting talent from people who are imaginative in their writing and performance, not confined to the type of music they play. We look for venues which are a little bit more interesting and often under-used to create the best atmosphere for both the acts and the audience.

Punk Lives magazine

I frequently get asked for this magazine. Not sure why it has taken on such a status in the past few years as it wasn't highly regarded at the time. Admittedly the photographs used are very good and they're a good document of the time. We could do with something like this now!

Anyway, pretty much a full set has been acquired and will be on the next newsletter/update at the end of the month.
