This Thursday, September 13th 2012. Meg Baird from the USA on Drag City records. She will be supported by Richard dawson and The Horse Loom. Not to be missed!!

Venue; Cumberland Arms Byker - NE6 1LD

Doors; 20:00hrs  Admission; £6-00.

Meg Baird;

"She is an amazing guitarist and singer. Often compared to Sandy Denny, she incorporates aspects of Denny, Anne Briggs, Nick Drake and Bert Jansch (she toured with him in the past) into her own unique sound. She is an excellent fingerstyle guitar player and her voice is incredible and ethereal, providing a contemporary and progressive take on the rich seam mined by those artists mentioned above. Truly special. Not to be missed!!"

‎"Philadelphia's wonderful Meg Baird. A mainstay of that city's excellent Espers, Baird's voice, guitar and arrangements have always been a cornerstone of their pastoral angularity. Guesting on records by everyone from Will Oldham to Sharon van Etten and Kurt Vile has helped spread the word about her ever more delicately powerful guitar style and her simply ethereal voice. Comparisons to such heavyweights as Sandy Denny, Linda Perhacs and Pentangle's Jacqui McShee abound."
 The Horse Loom; His long awaited debut album is to be released later this month on Low Point records; "swung between delicacy and furious string scratching burst of melodies""acoustic songs that interweave his surprisingly tender vocals with his truly incredible guitar style that recalls Davy Graham or Bert Jansch at their finest
Richard Dawson; "Newcastle based Richard Dawson has beguiled his way round live venues in the region for a few years now and this album (released last year but now out on vinyl) captures him and his battered acoustic guitar in all their unadorned glory. Unadorned? The production makes Bon Iver’s ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’ sound like Thriller, but if you’re prepared to get down and dirty then you’ll be rewarded with Dawson’s voice – a high-wire act without a safety net - teetering from the commanding to a strained, barely there whisper, which has the effect of simply pulling you in even closer. An acquired taste, but then again, so is the finest malt whisky."

There's an excellent video for Statement Of Intent from the forthcoming Paranoid Visions album 'Escape From The Austerity Complex' out on Overground Records on Sept 17th.

It just goes to show that you don't need a big budget to make a killer video, creativity is just as good.

There's another video for a track from the album Outsider Artist featuring TV Smith. That was a highly limited 7" and CD single. If you see one grab it!
