One Of The Problems With Vinyl

Yesterday I was playing a record I'd just graded as mint and it crackled badly. A closer inspection only confirmed my visible mint grading. Very frustrating!

This is one of the problems with vinyl, it may be new or look perfect but it can occasionally be faulty.

I remember many years ago reading an article about the many problems in the manufacturing process and the author concluded that finding a perfect record was like winning the pools.

Just occasionally I get people complaining because they think I've ripped them off when a record doesn't play to the grading I gave it. Of course I can't play every record, it has to be done visually.

Those of you interested in learning more about the manufacturing process should watch that clip.
