Bearsuit deported from USA

If it’s good enough for Amy Winehouse, it’s good enough for Bearsuit. So, um, we kinda got arrested and deported from the States last week because of visa problems. Half of the Bears made it over to SXSW successfully. The other half got interrogated at immigration for three hours and ended up having proper finger prints and mug shots done like common criminals. They even threatened to put us in Guantanamo Bay style orange jump suits if we didn’t get on the first plane back to the UK!
Thankfully no cavity search was conducted, however the immigration officials did usher us into their offices while pulling on a pair of rubber gloves to freak us out! Then we had to pledge our allegiance to George Bush and the Lord Our Saviour and what not. It was all a bit like being in a Coen Brothers film.
We met some fellow deportees along the way – a band called the Ultimate Power Duo, who had been there for about 24 hours so we hope they got home ok in the end.
We had about 10 shows lined up (including supporting Scouting For Girls – yep, you heard right!) so we were super gutted when it all turned bad! Sorry to everyone we’ve disappointed – especially our driver Jose, all those promoters, the fans (aw), and thanks to everyone who helped the other three State-side bears out. Especially Gary from Koop Radio for driving them back to the airport and generally being a star and Ashley, Megan and Justin who put them up.
Also thanks to mister Huw Stephens for putting Iain on Radio 1 last night and to Tom Robinson on 6music for bigging us up too!
